Convenience of Train Travel
Not only is travel by train the fastest form of public transport, Ipoh Railway Station is only 350 metres walking distance from the Birch Memorial Clock Tower in the centre of Ipoh’s Old Town area. By way of contrast, Ipoh’s main long distance bus station is located 10 km by road to the north of the Ipoh Old Town. There are plenty of places to visit in Ipoh both in the Old Town and in the hills surrounding the city. Ipoh has a rich history going back to the middle of the 19th Century with the start of commercial mining of tin ore in the area. The Ipoh Heritage Trail also goes past, or near, all 8 of the wall murals created by artist Ernest Zacharevic in 2014. Since 2014 other street artists have been inspired to create more great pictures on wall and the best of these are also located in Ipoh Old Town.
