About Travel to Gemas

Gemas is the last stop at the southern end of the electrified section of Malaysia’s West Coast Train Line. Gemas Railway Station is very much an interchange station. Trains travelling south from Kuala Lumpur all terminate at Gemas and passengers wishing to continue their journey need to change trains or switch to a different mode of transport.

Staying in Gemas

Gemas is a small town with around 30,000 residents and no tourist attractions. Gemas attracts almost no leisure visitors other than those in transit and the range facilities for leisure visitors is therefore very limited.

For food there are branches of 7-Eleven and Family Mart within easy walking of the train station, as well a branch of KFC. For a cooked meal try either Gemas Curry Point or Wang Lai Chinese Restaurant, which also serves alcohol.

There are two hotels close to Gemas Railway Station: the Tropicana and Bee Chew Hotel. The Tropicana is the more expensive and comfortable of the two.

Travel North from Gemas

Passengers alighting at Gemas also have the option of travelling north on Malaysia’s ‘Jungle Line’ which passes through some remote areas on the east coast of peninsula Malaysia.
