Gemas is a small town with about 30,000 permanent residents and very little of interest to most leisure travellers.
Staying Overnight in Gemas
All trains from Kulai to Gemas, except for the first train service of the day, arrive too late for passengers to connect with onward train services to destinations on the electrified section of the West Coast mainline.
Gemas may be small and not particularly interesting for visitors, however, the town does have a fairly wide range of facilities for overnight guests.

Travel to Melaka
For travel to Melaka if you arrive too late for a connecting train you can travel by road. Bus services to Tampin depart from the Stesen Bas & Teksi Gemas, which is a short distance to the north of Gemas Railway Station. From Tampin there are direct bus services to Melaka Sentral Bus Station.
Travel by taxi from Gemas to Melaka takes about half the time it does to travel by public bus. Expect to pay around RM100 for the journey from Gemas Railway Station to the centre of Melaka.
