Trains to Thailand
There are three Thai operated trains departing from Padang Besar Railway Station in Malaysia travelling on to Thailand. There are two shuttle services travelling only as far as Hat Yai, one departing at 11:15 and and the other at 16:40 Malaysian Time.
These services take 45 minutes to reach Hat Yai and tickets are only available for purchase on these two shuttle services on the day of travel. The other Thai operated train departing from Padang Besar Railway Station in Malaysia is Train #46 departing at 18:00 Malaysian Time and travelling as far as Bangkok via major cities such as Hat Yai, Surat Thani, Chumphon and Hua Hin.

The other way to travel from Padang Besar Railway Station to Thailand is by road. A taxi from the train station to the border costs around RM20 and a motorbike taxi costs RM10. These services depart from the car park in front of the train station. Once you cross over the border and clear Thai immigration you can then get a motorbike taxi to the minivan station in the Thai section of Padang Besar. Minivans to Hat Yai depart frequently and cost 50 THB per person. The journey by minivan from Padang Besar to Hat Yai takes 50 minutes and terminates at Hat Yai Bus Station.
