About Travel to Padang Besar


There are two ways to travel from Padang Besar Railway Station into Thailand. The first is to take a train. There are three daily trains from Padang Besar to Thailand departing at 09:55, 16:40 and 18:00. The first two trains travel as far as Hat Yai. The 18:00 departure terminates in Bangkok. The second way to cross over into Thailand is by road. Taxi services to Thailand depart from the car park in front of Padang Besar Railway Station. By taxi it costs 20 MYR, possibly less if you share a taxi, to travel from Padang Besar Railway Station to the Thai side of the border.

If you do arrive in Padang Besar in Thailand by road your best option for onward travel in Thailand is to take a motorbike taxi from the border to the town’s minivan station.
