Travel from Gemas
Arriving in Gemas from Kuala Lumpur we have three suggestions about where you should travel to next: Malacca, Singapore and Tioman Island.

- Tioman Island: Tioman Island is famous for it beaches and a great place to go scuba diving. Tioman Island is located in the Mersing Marine Park and a 2 hour ferry journey from Mersing on the mainland. To reach Mersing City from Gemas take a train South toward Johor Bharu and alight from the train before you reach Johor Bharu at the town of Kluang. After you arrive at Kluang negotiate with a taxi driver a long distance rate for the journey to Mersing City.
- Singapore: Singapore is a beautiful modern city with some interesting historical buildings dating back to the time when Singapore was under British Colonial rule. To reach Singapore from Gemas take a train South to Johor Bharu Sentral Station. There are 14 departures a day from Johor Bharu Sentral Station to Woodlands Train Checkpoint in Singapore. The journey on the shuttle train from Johor Bharu to Singapore takes 5 minutes and costs 5 MYR.
- Malacca: Malacca is a coastal town with a rich history related to its importance as trading hub in the 1800s and its long history of foreign settlers, who came to Malacca from all over the world. The city centre Heritage Area is one of Malaysia’s top tourist attractions. Gemas is only 76 km away from Malacca by road. There is no train line to Malacca, and Gemas is the nearest large train station. To reach Malacca from Gemas either take a taxi, or travel by bus to the nearby town of Segamat from where you can catch a local bus to Malacca. By taxi the journey should take approximately 1 hours 11 minutes, whereas by bus expect the whole journey (including waiting time at Segamat Bus Station) to take around 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 45 minutes depending on what time of day you are travelling.
